birthdays and cakes

Sam and Charlie just recently had their birthdays (8 days apart). Sam wanted a Sponge Bob cake and Charlie wanted a chocolate alligator cake. The boys were so cute when they saw them. They kept saying, "Wow! How did you do that? It looks just like Sponge Bob/an alligator!" It was fun to make them (especially in the new kitchen.)

ps - I realize that my cakes are both missing arms and legs. Frankly, I didn't feel like trying to figure it out, so I just didn't. The boys noticed, but they didn't really care. Also, if you want to see some really awesome birthday cakes, you should check out Sara's blog (not exactly sure where the cakes are, but there are a bunch.)

Those look GREAT!! I often make the mistake of doing the cake that I want to do, because I want to try a certain trick/technique, instead of really finding out what the birthday kid wants ~ both of those are SUCH great ideas!!

I posted all my cakes in June of this year; all 20 or however many there are, plus Noah's basketball cake from this year is also in June. FYI :)

Neato, Leigh! I think you got both of them spot on! I think when you're trying to get any specific character right, it's hard because people know what they are supposed to look like. Your Sponge Bob is awesome!

Leigh, you never cease to amaze me. I wish I had half your talent. They look great. Happy birthday boys!

The brown alligator turned out really well and the SpongeBob cake looks better than the real Sponge Bob I think.

way to go - they look fantastic! I remember when Tammy made her boys a race track cake with race cars - it was awesome too!
