building a fence and other business

We've lived in our house for almost 5 years now and we're finally getting around to building a fence. (It's not that we've been lazy, there was just a lot of prep work.) So this week Dan took off Tuesday (in addition to Monday) and we started building. It's been a lot of work. But we have 8 posts in! That's between 1/3 and 1/4 of what we need. It may take a while . . .

Also last weekend I went on a trip with my sisters and mom to Seattle. I LOVE Seattle! I would move there in a minute if Dan's job wanted us to.

Also for the past few weeks I've been getting ready for a jewelry show. It's tomorrow. That's another reason I've been a little neglectful of the blog.

I also forgot to blog about when the kids met their new uncle Travis. They haven't stopped talking about him and ask daily when he's coming over again.

Pictures of everything coming soon!

Keane

The other night we went to see Keane play. It was so great. I wondered why we don't go to more concerts.

So they came out on stage with TONS of energy. Tim Rice-Oxley (the pianist) was dancing the whole time while playing the piano. He was playing crazier than Chris Martin (Coldplay). I don't really even know how he can play like that. I put a video down there at the bottom, but he was moving way more at the show we went to.

Tom Chaplin (lead singer) sounded great the whole time. He kept talking to the crowd (Dan kept saying how polite he was.) He was also so grateful that we kept cheering. It was cool. My friend was way closer to the front than we were and she got these photos.

Helio Sequence and Mat Kearney opened for Keane. I wasn't sure I'd like Mat Kearney, but both bands were great. The only complaint I have is that this little itty bitty girl and her boyfriend kept making out in the row in front of me. I felt like puking several times. On her. Other than that it was a great show.

This is my favorite Keane song, but they didn't play it this time.

She Has No Time

Everybody's Changing (from another tour)

Try Again (they played this one. Love it.)

thumbsucking curly-headed blanket lovers

All the boys love their blankies. But Luke and Charlie are the only thumbsuckers and the only ones who have curls. I've been trying to take this picture for weeks because it happens ALL THE TIME. If Dan's home these two want to be in his lap. None of the pictures turned out great because even when they're sitting in Dad's lap they're moving around.

still nice

I'm sitting here sewing and here's what I've been listening to for the last hour:

Charlie helping Jack clean his room. Everyone was nice to each other and Charlie often helps Jack. I'm not really sure why, but I think he just likes some direction and some help. Jack then helps Charlie.

After that Sam helped Charlie make his bed. There was only one small fight which was quickly resolved. (I only asked Jack to clean his room, which he did happily right when I asked. Sam and Charlie did theirs on their own.)

After all rooms were clean Jack invited the two other boys to paint pictures for me for Mother's Day. He offered to let them use his special art kit which he got for Christmas. Right now they're in there coloring, painting, singing, and telling me not to look or come into the kitchen. Little Luke is taking a nap after a really whiny morning.

How did I get so lucky?
p.s. because of Josie's comment I feel I must tell you that what happened this morning is not what usually happens. I just got lucky on the day before Mother's Day. And 8 year olds sure are more responsible than say 4 or 6 year olds. We more often have fighting/screaming/hitting/bouncing off walls/jumping on couches days.
