I'm sitting here sewing and here's what I've been listening to for the last hour:
Charlie helping Jack clean his room. Everyone was nice to each other and Charlie often helps Jack. I'm not really sure why, but I think he just likes some direction and some help. Jack then helps Charlie.
After that Sam helped Charlie make his bed. There was only one small fight which was quickly resolved. (I only asked Jack to clean his room, which he did happily right when I asked. Sam and Charlie did theirs on their own.)
After all rooms were clean Jack invited the two other boys to paint pictures for me for Mother's Day. He offered to let them use his special art kit which he got for Christmas. Right now they're in there coloring, painting, singing, and telling me not to look or come into the kitchen. Little Luke is taking a nap after a really whiny morning.
How did I get so lucky?
p.s. because of Josie's comment I feel I must tell you that what happened this morning is not what usually happens. I just got lucky on the day before Mother's Day. And 8 year olds sure are more responsible than say 4 or 6 year olds. We more often have fighting/screaming/hitting/bouncing off walls/jumping on couches days.

Really, cause here was my morning so far...
Wake up to the boys screaming downstairs, I run down there and Ethan is walking toward me ready to explain himself, he says mom, I threw a ball at Cohen's face. Nice. Time out - more screaming. Then there was plenty more teasing, taking toys away, and just plain fighting until now... Ethan is in his room playing legos and Cohen is downstairs bugging Eric. I thought 4 would always be twice as much noise, how did you get so lucky?
Leigh, I have to say that I did notice that your boys were much calmer when I was there. I think you are doing a superb job even though they're not always like that. I can tell that you've changed. Thanks for being a good example of change. I'm sure parenting will be hard for me too so i need all the good examples I can get.
Cute. What a good day for them to be so nice to each other.
What wonderful memories you are making! before you know it Jack will be off to college so keep them close to you now while you can and savor every moment good nd bad...
