the apron

Remember when I told you I was going to start this apron? Well - it's done! And I LOVE it! And I thought it would be fun to have a little giveaway! So if any of you lovely readers would like one, please enter a comment on this post to win one (in your size) exactly like mine - reversible and everything! In your comment tell me about a fun summer activity we could try. I'll take giveaway comments until July 19 at 11:59 pm :)

If you'd like to make your own apron, the pattern was relatively easy to follow. I would suggest buying one. I made a few little changes (no ruffle on the bottom, changed the casing on the top, no pockets) so mine's not exactly like the pattern.

And thank you for all the comments on the bedwetting post. I'm sure we'll get through it, but why does pee have to smell so bad! I really don't want our house to be the pee house.

That's super cute! I love the wide waistband. Does commenting first count for anything?? I love that apron and I've been wearing aprons so often these days and could really use another one :)

I know your kids have already done sewing projects, but my kids hand-stitched little pouches with a long drawstring cord, and decorated them by gluing on buttons & ribbons... all the kids made them when we were in Pinetop and they used them to collect rocks & pinecones in the forest. And, this is Kate's idea, to make "gak." Mix equal parts liquid laundry starch and washable Elmer's glue, along with a little food coloring, and it makes a great goopy playdough-ish substance that is fun and doesn't stick to things, miraculously.

Yay for giveaways!

OH MY GOSH do I ever wish I had an apron as cute as you! I may just have to improve my sewing skills to copy this one.

A fun summer activity . . I have given the kids scissors, glue, tape, the stapler, paper, and our extra old photos and they love to make scrapbooks. Totally random, virtually mom-help free, and they feel like they made something!

Love the apron.

Fun summer activity for a 6-year-old:

1. Leave bakugan toy on the floor and break it, completely unexpectedly.

2. Scream and cry about it. Keep crying even when mom tells you dad will try to fix it when he gets home.

3. Climb onto kitchen counter to retrieve unopened superglue from top shelf.

4. Open superglue.

5. Run screaming through the house with superglue covering all fingers on both hands, and both palms.

6. Try to wash off superglue, in the bathroom.

7. Scream and cry more.

8. Have mother unsuccessfully scrub superglue with non-acetone nail polish remover.

9. Scream and cry some more.

10. Have mother painstakingly peel off big globs of superglue, rather unsuccessfully.

11. Scream and cry some more.

12. Follow mother's advice and rub lotion into hands, which miraculously removes superglue.

13. Repeatedly plead "Please don't tell dad."

14. Disappear when mother discovers approximately twenty drops of dried superglue on kitchen floor.

15. Cry and beg mother not to tell anyone about the superglue incident.

Fun for the whole family? Watch Bedtime Stories and make s'mores in your own backyard.

Hand stitched felt puppets? Make elf (fairy) houses outside, or just those cute doors that you stick to trees.
Like these.

That's a copy and paste address, not a link. Sorry.

I've thought that those would be easy to make out of polymer clay or something. They are so cute. Too girly? I don't have a great read on little boys.

You could always make strawberry freezer jam. Kids love helping, and the whole family loves eating it all year long!!! (we just made 40 lbs of strawberrys into jam last week)

Love it! Pop Garden is one of my favorite lines ;) Super cute! Would love to win! Hmmm... A summer activity...soak corn on the cob in the husk in water for about 5-10 min. Peel back the husk (but leave attached at bottom) and butter and salt the corn...replace the husk and put on the grill for 10-15 min. YUMM-O

First of all, you are looking good Leigh. Second of all, you amaze me just busting out this projects. I feel like a total slacker. That is why I need to win this giveaway and you make this for me so I don't have to do it myself. HA.

That is the cutest apron I have ever seen. No joke, you are amazing. As for a fun activity this summer you could set up a scavenger hunt for your kids. we would do it in our house as kids, putting pieces of paper all over the house directing the person to the next paper, I think it would be fun either in a park or around your back yard. you could have a team that sets it up and one that searches.
